A agricultura familiar é significativa para o desenvolvimento regional e do país, estando presente em diversas áreas brasileiras. No município de Nova Palma esta categoria social predomina no espaço rural, proporcionando a geração de alimentos e renda. A modernização agrícola implantada recentemente na região apenas tem caráter facilitador do manejo e produção dos gêneros agrícolas, pois as propriedades são na maioria pequenas e voltadas a agricultura de autoconsumo. Além disso, as altas declividades e poucos recursos financeiros impedem a incorporação de tecnologias associadas ao agronegócio, sendo as poucas mudanças recursos financeiros e técnicos introduzidos pela CAMNPAL no campo, trazendo novas perspectivas de desenvolvimento. Neste sentido, o presente artigo objetiva analisar as condições, as dinâmicas e as características da agricultura familiar no contexto novapalmense, relacionando com a modernização do campo. Para cumprir com os objetivos propostos foram realizadas diferentes etapas da pesquisa: coleta de dados em fontes primárias e secundárias, trabalho de campo, revisão de literaturas, aplicação de entrevistas semiestruturadas e análise de dados.ABSTRACTFamily farming is significant for regional development and the country, being present in several Brazilian areas. In the municipality of Nova Palma this social category predominant in rural areas, providing food and generating income.The recently implemented agricultural modernization in the region only have facilitator character of the management and production of farm products, because the properties are mostly small and focused on autoconsumo. In addition, steep slopes and limited financial resources prevent the incorporation of technologies for agribusiness. And the few changes, financial and technical resources introduced by CAMNPAL in the field, bringing new development perspectives. In this sense, this article aims to analyze the conditions, dynamics and characteristics of family farming in novapalmense context, relating to the modernization of the countryside. To meet the proposed objectives were carried out different stages of the research: collecting data on primary and secondary sources, fieldwork, literature review, interviews application semistructured and data analysis.Keywords: family farming; Nova Palma-RS; agricultural modernity; agricultural diversification.
