Este trabalho abordará a efetividade do Código Florestal de 1965 nos dias atuais e a proposta de alteração do mesmo no Congresso Nacional. Este Código representou o avanço na proteção de nossas reservas florestais. Consiste na tentativa de encontrar a solução mais adequada para o problema florestal brasileiro. Atualmente, todo o debate acerca do Código Florestal diz respeito às figuras da Reserva Legal e das Áreas de Preservação Permanente. Palavras-chave: Código Florestal; reserva legal; meio ambiente. EFFECTIVENESS OF FORESTRY CODE OF 1965 TODAY AND PROPOSAL OF ALTERATION OF THE SAME IN NATIONAL CONGRESS Abstract This work will approach on the effectiveness of the Forest Code of 1965 in the current days and the proposal of alteration of the same in the National Congress. This code represented the advance in the protection of our forest reserves. It consists of the attempt to find the solution most adequate for the Brazilian forest problem. Currently, all the debate concerning the Forest Code says respect to the figures of the Legal Reserve and the Areas of Permanent Preservation. keywords: Forest code; legal reserve; environment.
