O presente artigo tem por objetivo estudar o papel regional da cidade média de Sobral-CE, utilizando como variável a expansão do ensino superior público e privado na cidade. A partir do ano 2000 a cidade vem se configurando como importante polo regional de educação, repercutindo diretamente na relação do espaço intraurbano com o espaço regional. Since the year 2000 the city has emerged as an important regional center of education which will directly influence in the relation of intra-urban space with the regional space.
