O foco do artigo repousa no esforço de refletir criticamente sobre o PRONAF do ponto de vista do estabelecimento de um novo modelo para o desenvolvimento rural brasileiro, cuja referência é o discurso proposto no marco desta política pública pela busca da equidade e da superação da pobreza rural. Nosso intuito foi aprofundar o debate sobre a distribuição regional do montante de recursos disponibilizados e o número de contratos firmados desta importante política pública. Para este exercício foram utilizados dados secundários oriundos das instituições responsáveis pelo programa. Os resultados indicaram que durante a década dos anos 2000 o PRONAF concentrou seus esforços nas regiões sul e sudeste do país. NATIONAL PROGRAMME ON STRENGTHENING THE FAMILY FARM (PRONAF): ANALYSIS OF REGIONAL DISTRIBUTION OF RESOURCES AND CONTRACTS SIGNED IN THE YEAR 2000 Abstract: The focus of this article lies in the effort of a critical reflection on the PRONAF, aiming to establish a new model for rural development in Brazil, which references the concepts proposed within the framework of this policy, targeting fairness and equity in order to overcoming rural poverty. Our aim was to deepen the debate on the regional distribution of the amount of resources available, and the number of contracts engaged in this important public policy. For this purpose we used secondary data from the institutions responsible for the program. The results indicated that during the decade of the 2000s the PRONAF concentrated his efforts solely in the south and southeast of the country. Keywords: Family agriculture. Public policy.
