A história da população negra brasileira é marcada pela contradição entre o racismo e mito da Democracia Racial. Esse quadro é encontrado no sistema educacional, assim como nos livros didáticos. Analisamos como a população negra e a África são representadas nos livros didáticos de Geografia. Nessas obras constatamos poucas referências e menções sobre a população negra, quase sempre retratada por meio de estereótipos. Nos livros analisados predomina a imagem de uma África selvagem, rural e pobre. A diversidade social e espacial africana não é apresentada. A repetição dessas imagens negativas influencia a trajetória de todos os estudantes e todas as estudantes, especialmente os negros e as negras. Palavras-chave: População negra. África. Racismo. REPRESENTATIONS OF AFRICA AND BLACK PEOPLE IN DIDACTIC BOOKS OF GEOGRAPHY Abstract The history of the Brazilian black people is marked by the contradiction between racism and the myth of the Racial Democracy. This tableau is founded in the educational system, as well as in didactic books. We analyzed as the black people and Africa are represented in didactic books of Geography. In these works we see few references and mentions about black people, almost always represented in stereotyped forms. In analyzed books predominates the image of a wild, rural and poor Africa. The social and spatial African diversity there’s no showed. The repetition of these negative images influences the trajectories of all students and black students in a particular way.
