Neste artigo tratamos dos conhecimentos prévios dos alunos na Educação Básica tendo como referência diferentes perspectivas teóricas. No primeiro tópico destacamos a presença deste paradigma nos documentos oficiais da educação no Brasil e nos livros didáticos, retomando alguns dos principais autores que esclarecem e justificam a necessidade de se considerar os conhecimentos prévios dos estudantes quando se pretende que estes aprendam aquilo que se deseja ensinar. Nos dois tópicos seguintes aproximamos esta discussão do processo de aprendizagem dos conceitos estruturantes da geografia, em especial da noção lugar de vivência. Apresentamos o esboço inicial de uma sugestão de encaminhamento para o planejamento das aulas desta disciplina. Por fim, no quarto tópico, registram-se seis perguntas elaboradas no decorrer da construção deste texto, as quais poderão basear outras reflexões epistemológicas sobre o tema abordado, para além do que é discutido nos currículos prescritos e indicado nos materiais instrucionais para o ensino. THE STUDENT’S PRIOR KNOWLEDGE IN GEOGRAPHY TEACHING: notes to the organization of classesABSTRACT This paper addresses the student’s prior knowledge in Basic Education with reference to different theoretical perspectives. In the first topic we highlight the presence of this paradigm in the official documents of education in Brazil and in textbooks, resuming some of the main authors that clarify and justify the necessity of considering the previous knowledge of the students discussing about when they want to learn what you want to teach. In the following two topics we approach this discussion of the learning of the structuring concepts of geography, particularly the notion of place of experience. We present an initial draft of a suggested referral to the planning of lessons in this discipline. Finally, in the fourth topic, we register six questions used during the construction of this text, which may be basilar for other epistemological reflections about the subject, beyond what is discussed within the prescribed curricula and indicated in instructional materials for teaching.
