RESUMO:Este trabalho resulta da admissão do sujeito e objeto enquanto organismo vivo, unitário. Ainda que pareça reducionismo chamar de objeto a Terra e seus personagens - animados e inanimados - cabe aqui concebê-lo enquanto artefato de cobiça, curiosidade e inquietude para o pesquisador. Aqui, o objeto cobiçado admite a forma falhada dos itabiritos – e outrora ondulada sobre dolomitos – da Serra do Gandarela, mais precisamente o André do Mato Dentro, Santa Bárbara-MG. Mesmo inserida no colar metropolitano de Belo Horizonte, ali, a dança das abelhas na época das floradas ainda produz mel; o córrego principal, o Maria Casimira, ainda meandra por entre as casas; morcegos, grilos e sapos ainda orquestram a Missa de domingo. Considerada subalterna pelos olhos da técnica e do capital, a comunidade experimenta ameaças de propagação da lógica capitalista em seu território construído. Buscamos discutir a noção de quintal nesse enredo, e os conceitos de identidade, lugar e imaginação. O movimento elucidativo basilar – exposto pela experiência de campo – consistiu na percepção de que o quintal em André do Mato Dentro extrapola as cercas da morada, da horta e do pomar, para abranger as cristas, os vales, os cursos d’água, as lendas, constituintes do sistema simbólico daquele povoado.Palavras-chave: habitar; imaginário; ser-que-vive; quintal. ABSTRACT:This paper results from the admission of the subject and object as a living, unitary organism. Although it seems like reductionism to objectify the Earth and its characters - animate and inanimate – it fits here to conceive it as an artefact of greed, curiosity and concern for the researcher. Here, the coveted object assumes the failed form of the itabirites ‑ and sometimes formed in a wave shape form on the dolomites ‑ of the Serra do Gandarela, more precisely the André do Mato Dentro, Santa Bárbara-MG. Although it’s inserted in Belo Horizonte’s metropolitan zone, there, the dance of the bees in the flowering time still produces honey; the main stream, Maria Casimira, still meanders through the houses; bats, crickets and frogs still orchestrate the Sunday Mass. Considered subaltern by the technique’s and capital’s eyes, the community experiences threats of propagation of the capitalist logic in their built territory. We seek to discuss the notion of yard in this plot, and the concepts of identity, place, and imagination. The basic elucidative movement - exposed by the field experience - consisted in the perception that the yard in André do Mato Dentro extrapolates the fences of the dwelling, of the garden and of the orchard, to embrace the crests, the valleys, the watercourses, the legends, constituents of that folk’s symbolic system.Keywords: to habit; imaginary; being-that-lives; yard.
