RESUMO:As lavadeiras de roupa do Rio Pardo (BA) integram seu modo de vida à beira do rio. Isso acontece na prática das relações interpessoais, na preservação de símbolos e nas condutas que reconstroem a memória social desse grupo. Nesse contexto, transmitem-se as tradições por meio das experiências compartilhadas ao longo dos anos, bem como pelas memórias que são resguardadas. Com base nesse enfoque é que se procedeu à leitura do rio Pardo, por meio do olhar das mulheres que lavam roupas naquelas águas e cujas histórias de vida, permanências, produção espacial, conflitos, memórias e práticas giram em torno daquele espaço. A coleta de dados incluiu os seguintes instrumentos: revisão bibliográfica e pesquisa de campo. Para as lavadeiras, o “estar junto” é fundamental, consiste em um convívio que assegura a manutenção dos resquícios de uma cultura que já gozou de momentos de força e de solidez. É um processo de reconstrução e de reinvenção de si mesmas e do grupo.Palavras-chave: Lavadeiras de Roupa; Memória Social; Rio Pardo. ABSTRACT:The clothes washers of Rio Pardo (BA) integrate their way of life by the river. This happens in the practice of interpersonal relations, in the preservation of symbols and in the behaviors that reconstruct the social memory of this group. In this context, the traditions are transmitted through the experiences shared over the years, as well as the memories that are preserved. Based on this approach, the Pardo River was read, through the eyes of the women who wash clothes in those waters and whose stories of life, permanence, space production, conflicts, memories and practices revolve around that space. Data collection included the following instruments: bibliographic review and field research. For washerwomen, "being together" is essential, it consists of a community that ensures the maintenance of the remnants of a culture that has enjoyed moments of strength and solidity.
