A abordagem histórica permite: compreender o nexo entre a rede dos assentamentos urbanos e o território e também as modalidades da transformação desse nexo originário através da introdução de inovações que se constituíram como novos fatores (ferrovia, fábricas, etc.), também como os novos modelos de assentamento. Contempla-se aqui não somente uma evolução histórica, mas uma análise que utilize uma perspectiva cronológica que permita compreender o sentido da longa evolução que produziu o dado organizacional atual das cidades e as consequências das diferentes escolhas estruturais e formais. A análise do tecido urbano de Itaúna juntamente com seu sítio e as informações históricas encontradas entre as não poucas publicações existentes revela a presença de alguns percursos que nortearam o processo de ocupação do primeiro assentamento o mesmo que, por sua vez, evoluiu sucessivamente caracterizando-se como o centro atual da cidade. Alguns aspectos que caracterizam o sítio devem ser destacados, pois possuem uma importância fundamental no que diz respeito ao processo de ocupação do primeiro núcleo urbano. AbstractThe historical approach allows: to understand the connection between the net of the urban establishments and the territory and also the modalities of the transformation of that original connection through the introduction of innovations that were constituted as new factors (railroad, factories, etc.), also as the new establishment models. It is meditated here not only a historical evolution, but an analysis that uses a chronological perspective that it allows to understand the sense of the long evolucion that produced the current organizational die of the cities and the consequences of the different structural and formal choises. The analysis of the urban of Itauna together ranch and the historical information found among the no few existent publications reveal the presence of some courses that orientated the process of occupation of the first the same as establishment, for time, it developed being characterize the ranch should be outstanding, because they possess a fundamental importance in what says respect to the process of occupation of the first urban nucleus.
