Este artigo tem objetivo de estabelecer um diálogo sobre a tomada de relações do homem com o mar. Apoiado no âmbito geo-histórico buscou-se resgatar a análise de como se processou o ideal de valorização dos espaços litorâneos, a transformação da imagem negativa acarretada ao mar à uma redefinição como um local de contemplação paisagística, desencadeadora de conflitos e expansão econômica, bem como a descoberta do mar como área para lazer e veraneio.

ABSTRACT
The purpose of this article is to establish a dialogue around the relationship between man and the sea. Founded on the geo-historical sphere, the intention was to study the analysis of the ideal valorization of coastal spaces, how their negative image associated with the sea was redefined into a place of majestic landscapes, at the core of conflict and economic expansion, as well as the discovery of the sea as a leisure and holiday destination.
