Abstract
The objective of this work is to analyze the Food Acquisition Program (FAP) in Mato Grosso, in the modality of Purchase with Simultaneous Donation, emphasizing diversified production, family consumption and promotion of food sovereignty among peasants and people which benefit from the program. Four main methodological procedures were adopted: I) bibliographical and documentary research; II) data collection; III) elaboration of cartographic representation and; IV) analysis of primary and secondary data. The primary data was collected from February to July 2016 through semi-structured interviews with peasant leaders who accessed or accessed the FAP and the secondary ones at the National Supply Company (Conab). It was verified that the FAP acts in the social inclusion by strengthening the peasants agriculture that produces food of quality and in sufficient quantity to attend the consumption of their own family, with possibility to commercialize the surplus. Therefore it is concluded that food sovereignty affirms the right of peasants and people served by the program to a culturally appropriated food and to the resources to produce food, thus reducing their dependence on capitalist markets. Keywords: Public policy, food production, social assistance.
