Abstract: Based on the concepts of sustainable consumption and ecological sufficiency, this article seeks to distinguish between the different discourses associated with the topic, such as ecological modernization, Amartya Sen’s approach, the South American buen vivir movement, environmental justice, deep ecology, and ecosocialism, as well as to reveal the influence of power relations over the transition into fair and sustainable forms of social organization.
