Destacamos as relações
Abstract
THE ROLE OF THE TERTIARY SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY IN THE SOCIAL-SPATIAL INTERACTION IN THE BRAZIL-PARAGUAY BORDER REGION
In the social-spatial interactions that take place in the Brazil-Paraguay border, the trade and services activities play a strong role in terms of integration. In this article we have highlighted the complementarity between Bela Vista (located on the Brazilian side) and Bella Vista Norte (on the Paraguayan side); Mundo Novo (located on the Brazilian side) and Salto Del Guairá (located on the Paraguayan side); Ponta Porã (located on the Brazilian side) and Pedro Juan Caballero (located on the Paraguayan side) border towns, which is mediated by the tertiary sector of economy according to the Lower and Upper Circles of the urban economy concept (as formulated by Milton Santos). We have pointed out the social relations between the frontiersmen who socialize with others despite of the political division mechanism, as well of the border limits that are set by law. We have used data from the Annual Report on Social Information (RAIS, in the acronym in Portuguese) and concluded that trade and service activities play a meaningful role in the generation of new jobs (in several degrees), according to the cities that have been studied, contributing, thus, to the consolidation of local economy, providing people from those places a larger availability of those kinds of services
