MODERNIZAÇÃO DA ATIVIDADE MANDIOQUEIRA E USO ATUAL DO TERRITÓRIO DO AGRESTE POTIGUAR (modernization of activity mandioqueira and current use of the territory of Agreste Potiguar)
Abstract
A mandioca foi, até a década de 1980, no Agreste Potiguar,
uma planta cultivada predominantemente para a subsistência dos
trabalhadores rurais. A partir da década citada, a referida atividade
começa a ser modernizada, o que ocasiona mudanças técnicas, nas relações
de trabalho e no uso do território. Assim sendo, objetivamos, no
presente trabalho, analisar as mudanças nas técnicas e nas relações de
trabalho que vêm sendo implementadas com o processo de modernização da
atividade mandioqueira no Agreste Potiguar, bem como compreender a
função dessa atividade no uso atual do território do Agreste Potiguar.
Para atingir tais objetivos, realizamos pesquisa bibliográfica, acerca
dos conceitos e temas que permeiam as discussões do trabalho, e pesquisa
empírica, entrevistando produtores de mandioca e proprietários de casas
ou de indústrias de farinha do território em questão. Como consideração
final, enfatizamos que, no contexto de modernização, a mandioca não é
mais um mero gênero de subsistência no Agreste Potiguar, mas sim uma
mercadoria que é produzida e transformada, sobretudo nas indústrias, de
acordo com padrões pré-estabelecidos, visando prover o abastecimento de
mercados internos e externos.

ABSTRACT
Cassava
was, until the 1980s, the Agreste Potiguar, a plant grown mainly for
subsistence of rural workers. From the decade mentioned, that activity
is beginning to be modernized, which leads to technical changes in labor
relations and territory use. Therefore, the objective of the present
study, to analyze the changes in techniques and in working relationships
that have been implemented with the modernization process of the
activity mandioqueira in the Agreste Potiguar and to understand the
function of this activity in the current use of the territory of the
Agreste Potiguar . To achieve these goals, we conducted bibliographic
research about the concepts and themes that permeate the discussions of
the work, and empirical research, interviewing cassava producers and
owners of homes or industries of flour from the territory in question.
As a final consideration, we emphasize that in the context of
modernization, cassava is no longer merely a kind of livelihood in the
Agreste Potiguar, but a commodity that is produced and processed,
especially in industries, according to established standards, aiming to
provide the supply of domestic and foreign markets.

RÉSUMÉ
Le
manioc a été, avant les années 1980, au Agreste Potiguar, une plante
cultivée principalement pour la subsistance des travailleurs ruraux. De
la décennie mentionné, l’activité commence à être modernisées, ce qui
conduit à des changements techniques dans les relations du travail et de
l’utilisation des terres. Par conséquent, l’objectif du présente étude
est analyser l’évolution des techniques et des relations de travail qui
ont été mis en œuvre avec le processus de modernisation de l’activité
mandioqueira au Agreste Potiguar et comprendre la fonction de cette
activité dans l’utilisation actuelle du territoire du Agreste Potiguar.
Pour atteindre ces objectifs, nous avons effectué des recherches
bibliographiques sur les concepts et les thèmes qui imprègnent les
discussions de l’œuvre, et la recherche empirique, en interrogeant les
producteurs de manioc et les propriétaires des maisons ou des industries
de la farine à partir du territoire en question. Comme un examen final,
nous soulignons que dans le contexte de la modernisation, le manioc
n’est plus simplement une sorte de moyens de subsistance dans le Agreste
Potiguar, mais un produit qui est produit et traité, en particulier
dans les industries, selon les normes établies, visant à fournir
l’approvisionnement des marchés intérieurs et étrangers.
